Sonic Meditations with Blanc Sceol (Stephen Shiell & Hannah White)

For this workshop, we will venture out of the cinema and onto Wantstead Flats, the southernmost tip of Epping Forest, a stones throw from the festival venue. We will explore the temporal dynamics of Pauline Oliveros’ ‘Sonic Meditations’, - 25 ‘special procedures' for participatory practice to expand sonic awareness and re-situate music making within the collective, with specific attention to the healing power of sonic energy. Together we’ll practice pieces that introduce a sense of expanded time and momentary shifts of perception that can last indefinitely.

The workshop will be led by Blanc Sceol, artist duo and certified Deep Listening® practitioners Stephen Shiell & Hannah White. Blanc Sceol are an artist duo who work site-responsively with sound, listening & performance, often at the inter-section of creative & community engagement in conservation & ecology. They explore healing modalities as tools for collective transformation. Their work is a spiral within the space-time continuum.
